There is no other design think tank quite like Seattle-based studio Modern Dog. Their heady mix of intuitive design, cheeky humour, and punk-rock aesthetics has made them unique among design firms, and a hell of a lot of fun. Gathered together here for the first time is Modern Dog's groundbreaking body of work in poster design over the past two decades. From posters for worthy causes to those for theatre, music, arts and cultural events, and - often most entertaining of all - self-promotional pieces, the work in this volume runs the gamut but always reflects founders Mike Strassburger and Robynne Raye's distinctive eye. Interviews with Mike and Robynne by design luminaries James Victore and Rick Valincenti and an essay by critic Steven Heller illuminate the working methods of these creators of iconic and irreverent fin-de-siecle design.

This flexi-journal features the unique artwork of acclaimed silkscreen artist Jordan Crane.

Contains a 'best of' collection of pages from the 1000 Journals Project, where 1000 blank journals were randomly circulated for people to draw, paint, collage, and otherwise fill the pages of the journals. The journals have reached all 50 states and 35 countries, drawing on a broad demographic of people, cultures, and perspectives. Voyeuristic. Inspirational. Entertaining. One thousand blank journals are currently circulating throughout the world, beckoning contributors who find the journals by chance on trains, in cafs, and anonymously left on doorsteps. Artist Someguy shares more than 250 of the best entries: a collage of African countries repositioned into a new continent; the musings of a teen trapped in a drug- ravaged community; a student's humorous personal ad for his ideal girlfriend (C-cup required!"). Afaux leather cover and two beautifully embroidered pages bring the look and feel of the original journals to life. The perfect gift for journalists, aspiring artists, designers, and anyone who can't wait for one of the journals to magically appear in their lives."

Explores the artistic vision upon which the film of an ambitious rat was built with a concept art, including storyboards, full-colour pastels, pencil sketches, maquettes, and others. On the heels of seven straight box office hits, "Ratatouille" continues Pixar's incredible run of success with the charming story of an ambitious rat (yes, a rat!) whose delicate sense of smell and love for gourmet French food compel him to become a chef in the most famous restaurant in Paris - against all odds and with plenty of madcap adventures along the way. "The Art of Ratatouille" explores the artistic vision upon which the film was built with fascinating concept art, including storyboards, full-colour pastels, pencil sketches, maquettes, and more. Extensive quotes from the artists and production team and a foreword by director Brad Bird ("The Incredibles") bring the art to life. With more than 200 pieces of art and a great design, this is the only adult tie in book for "Ratatouille", which is set for a June, 2007 release.
