(W/A) Drew Friedman Before the politically correct impulses of the 1970s squelched the grand American tradition of the sideshow, people born with abnormalities and others who created theirs, exhibited themselves to the shock and thrill of millions in sideshows nationwide. As a youngster, Drew Friedman often visited Coney Island with his family, and he became fascinated with people who are different. Drew Friedman's Sideshow Freaks presents fifty of his favorite historic human oddities, famous and obscure, in mesmerizing full-color portraits.

Karl Wirsum's drawings from 1967-70 represent an artist is full bloom. A member of the Hairy Who exhibition and publication group, Karl's ecstatic paintings are renowned but his drawings have rarely been seen. This oversized, limited edition catalog, published with the exhibition of the same name at Derek Eller Gallery, NYC, presents 28 drawings reproduced at nearly full size, along with a essay and photographs. This work is timeless, forward thinking drawing that occupies its own category.

Terry 100 Channels is a 30 minute animated film drawn at the peak of King Terry's powers and directed by the cult filmmaker Shinya (Tetsuo: The Iron Man) Tsukamoto. It was first issued in 1985 on VHS as part of a series of illustration-based videos produced in Japan. I am proud to reissue this, Terry’s only film, and declare it a masterpiece of drawn cinema and a truly funky good time. Long live the King. Strictly limited edition, man.

(W/A) Renee French In H Day, Renee French explores, through metaphor and in pictures, her struggles with migraine headaches, marshaling troops of insects, beasts and humanoids to envision the processes that result in such hideous sensations. A sweeping, often tense narrative of invasion, repulsion and liberation, H Day can be read both as an oblique autobiography and as a suspenseful fantasy story.

Burma is a country notorious for its use of concealment and isolation as social control, where scissors-wielding censors monitor the papers, the de facto leader of the opposition has been under decade-long house arrest, insurgent-controlled regions are effectively cut off from the world, and rumor is the most reliable source of current information. Guy Delisle turns his gaze to the everyday for a sense of the big picture. Burma Chronicles is drawn with a minimal line, and interspersed with wordless vignettes and moments of Delisle's distinctive slapstick humor.

Inside Something Old, Something New, award-winning For Better or For Worse cartoonist Lynn Johnston takes readers to a place where Dad makes mental notes because he can't read his own handwriting, Mom can't get sick because she doesn't have the time, and too much quiet from the kids can only mean disaster is about to strike. In 2008, Johnston made an unprecedented move within the cartooning community by deciding to use former plotlines as starting points for new ones. To this end, Something Old, Something New features storylines from the strip's first three cartoon collections—I've Got the One-More-Washload Blues . . . , Is This "One of Those Days," Daddy?, and "It Must Be Nice to Be Little"—with entirely new cartoons and full-color Sundays. Something Old, Something New follows John and Elly back to where it all began as Michael prepares for his first day of kindergarten, Elly returns to school trying to get her English degree, the family adopts Mrs. Baird's sheepdog, a.k.a. Farley, Elizabeth grows from baby to toddler, and despite her best efforts, Elly can do nothing to treat John's hopelessly incurable fashion sense. It takes a keen eye to recognize life's shared experiences and an even keener intellect to assemble those moments in a humorous and heartfelt way. With For Better or For Worse, Johnston elevates everyday aspects of life into brilliant observations on personal career goals, parenting choices, and coffee klatch friendships.
